Stookey, a resident of Clifton, Virginia, has a diverse range of interests outside of his professional life. He is a devoted husband of 24 years to his wife, Molly, and a loving father to two daughters, Julia and Anna. An alumnus of Frostburg State University with a double major in Political Science and Justice Studies, his journey in the event industry began in 1996 when he worked for an event organizer specializing in B2B events in Russia and surrounding countries of the former Soviet Union.

During his career, Stookey has held significant roles at renowned organizations, including CES and NAB, contributing to their international growth and success. He was also instrumental in launching innovative international programs such as NAB Collaborative. In 2017, he led the expansion of ILTA's international reach through new programs in Brazil, Australia, and Europe.

In 2022, Stookey joined Cybertech, a joint venture between Cybertech Israel and Compexposium, to launch the Cybertech brand in New York City. Although this endeavor had its challenges, it is a testament to Stookey's commitment to pushing boundaries and exploring new opportunities.
